WW1 Marksman Telescope By Steward Ltd
A very good "Quick Focus Marksman" telescope by J.H. Steward Ltd London. The Marksman was a compact version of the military telescope, yet it offered a higher level of magnification. The compact 2 draw design provided additional strength and a sharp image, which could be rapidly acquired by merely twisting the eyepiece to focus - much faster than the two-handed effort required for the push-and-pull army-issue spyglass. All in all, a perfect telescope for rifle shooters.
This telescope shows minor signs of use, but nothing nasty. It retains much original oxide finish, as well as very good leatherwork with all the stitched seams holding. Optically the lenses are undamaged and the view is sharp and clear but the objective lens would benefit from cleaning. Approximately 25x - 30x magnification x 40mm.
J.H. Steward became a Limited company in 1913.
