WW2 Military Longines c.1944

A good and genuine WW2 military watch by Longines. These Longines watches, with their fixed strap lugs, were supplied to British Army soldiers via the Canteen Services in India. They were sold privately at army bases, being offered at a discount. Due to this, a "C.S.(I)" mark was added to the back of the watches, which was intended to discourage profiteers from reselling them, however, while this example does not have the mark, there are signs indicating that it may have existed once. The Longines name was likewise omitted from the dials, although the movement are always fully marked.

Longines archives confirm the manufacture date of this watch as 1944 and identify their agent as the West End Watch Company. The watch is in working order, running well and keeping time. A nice example.
