Decca "Trench" Service Portable Record Player

A very good, portable record player by Decca. First made during WW1, the compact size and sturdy mechanical construction of the Decca A "Junior" gramophone saw many of them serving at the Front. Consequently, this tiny Decca became known to its customers as the "Trench Model", while after the war, Decca referred to them as their "Service Model". Production of these ceased in the mid-twenties.

This example is in very good condition, exhibiting just minor signs of service wear but remaining in perfect working order - with no damage. The motor winds smoothly, and the speed controls function as they should. The integral speaker/diaphragm both produce a good loud sound, just not of the standard of a modern sound system. Some new medium-tone needles are included.
