Spanish Civil War German Military Watch, c.1936

A pre WW2 German Army issue Silvana pocket watch, c.1936. These early military waterproof watches featured technological advancements such as the introduction of the Incabloc shock protection system but they were not marked with the D.H. property stamp - This kind of marking would become synonymous with those watches produced during WW2. Nevertheless, an issue number can be seen on the back of this one, and these early variants were just a little larger overall. This was due to an internal protective screw down capsule that surrounded the movement, a feature that was simplified on later examples.

Overall, the watch is in very good original condition, running and keeping time but it has not been serviced.

Around 16,000 German personnel served during the conflict, as airmen, artillery and in armoured divisions sent by Adolf Hiltler to support the Nationalist forces.
